SCHOOL OF BIOMETRICS Topic
Modern Experimental Designs: Construction and Analysis
SCHOOL OF BIOMETRICS Invited Speaker
Emlyn Williams
CSIRO Forestry and Forest Products, Canberra, Australia
This lecture will cover the design and analysis of a number of
design types used in practice for field, glasshouse, micro array
and clinical trials ranging from simple randomized complete block,
factorial and split-plot designs through to different forms of incomplete
block, row-column, spatial and crossover designs. The design generation
packages CycDesigN http://www.ffp.csiro.au/software
and CrossOver http://www.stats.waikato.ac.nz/software.html
will be discussed.
Analyses of design types will be presented using examples and will
involve analysis of variance and mixed-model analysis. Testing and
interpretation of results will be discussed. The book “Experimental
Design and Analysis for Tree Improvement” by E.R. Williams,
A.C. Matheson and C.E. Harwood http://www.publish.csiro.au/books/bookpage.cfm?PID=3145
provides some background material for the early part of the lecture.
How to Apply for the BIOSTAT 2005
The ITI Conference participants who wish to join the Meeting or
School should register using the ITI Registration Form (http://iti.srce.hr/itireg.html
). Please indicate on the Form your intention to participate
in the School of Biometrics, in order to receive the School handouts
at the Conference. For the ITI participants, there is no additional
fee for the School. Submitted papers or poster abstracts (http://iti.srce.hr/submit.html
) should reach ITI Conference secretariat within ITI deadlines
and should follow ITI Instructions to authors (http://iti.srce.hr/itinstr.html
). Accepted papers will be presented within the ITI topic: Data
Mining, Statistics and Biometrics. The detailed program will be
announced later, on the ITI web site at http://iti.srce.hr/.
