VENUE

Hotel «Croatia», Cavtat
The Conference will take place at the luxurious five star hotel "Croatia" in Cavtat, Croatia, only 10 minutes (6 km) from Dubrovnik International Airport. The hotel, located on a peninsula surrounded by the crystal clear Adriatic Sea, offers a picturesque view of the city of Cavtat.

Cavtat / Dubrovnik Area
Cavtat, ancient Greek Epidaurum, is a small city near Dubrovnik at the southern part of the Adriatic Sea. Besides its natural beauty full of sun and with unique golden sunsets, Cavtat also has a rich and interesting past. According to legends and chronicles, refugees from Epidaurum, escaping invasion of Slavs and Avars, established Dubrovnik. During the 15th century Cavtat became a part of the Republic of Dubrovnik. The city boasts remains of various cultures: Rector's Palace, Bogišic's scientific collection, Vlaho Bukovac Art Gallery, Racic Mausoleum designed by the famous Croatian sculptor Meštrovic, Šipun cave, etc. Today, Cavtat is a very attractive mixture of old and new architecture, and lush Mediterranean vegetation.

10TH SCHOOL OF BIOMETRICS

SCHOOL OF BIOMETRICS Topic

Modern Experimental Designs: Construction and Analysis

This lecture will cover the design and analysis of a number of design types used in practice for field, glasshouse, micro array and clinical trials ranging from simple randomized complete block, factorial and split-plot designs through to different forms of incomplete block, row-column, spatial and crossover designs. The design generation packages CycDesigN http://www.ffp.csiro.au/software and CrossOver http://www.stats.waikato.ac.nz/software.html will be discussed. Analyses of design types will be presented using examples and will involve analysis of variance and mixed-model analysis. Testing and interpretation of results will be discussed. The book “Experimental Design and Analysis for Tree Improvement” by E.R. Williams, A.C. Matheson and C.E. Harwood http://www.publish.csiro.au/books/bookpage.cfm?PID=3145
provides some background material for the early part of the lecture.
