School of Biometrics Topic
Analysis of Areal Health Data

Abstract:
Health data are often not available at the individual level out of concern for individual's privacy. Instead, data may be reported for areal units, such as parishes, counties, census tracts, etc. In this short course, the challenges associated with working with areal health data when the goal is to draw inference about individual health will be considered. Because health and exposure data are usually observed on different spatial units, the spatial exposure and health outcomes data must be linked on a common spatial scale for analysis. Approaches to assessing the association between health outcomes and environmental exposures when the linkage is for areal units is the primary focus of the course.
