Concerns and Strategies of Housing the Implementation of E-Medical Services in Macedonia

Marika Apostolova Trpkovska, Lejla Abazi Bexheti

Abstract

This study houses the idea of open dominant potential to advance the clinical care and public e-medical services in Macedonia. This can be done by facilitating health professional practice and communication and reducing health gaps through the use of mobile technology for delivering medical services. This potential has to be achieved in a appropriate way taking into a consideration all the concerns related to it. Based on world best practices, this paper will cover the crucial concerns and propose strategies for implementation of mobile health in Macedonia. It will incorporate the evidence-based results of the most recent research advances in e-medicine, mhealth, and health care delivery

Analysis of Communication of Croatian Faculties through Facebook - Part I

Alen Delić, Petra Grd, Iva Gregurec

Abstract

In the 21st century, if a faculty wants to have an effective communication with their fans (for example former, potential or existing students) it must include social networking sites and see them as very important way of communication. With the number of internet, as well as social networking users constantly increasing, it is important and sometimes even vital for faculties to be present on and, consequently, to be proactive. Today social networks facilitate relationship-building since they have become a very powerful communication tool between users, as well as between faculties and their fans. The aim of this paper was to analyse the way Croatian faculties communicate with their fans via Facebook. The paper also shows differences between private and public institutions and their way of communicating with their fans.

Communication Strategy and Presence of the University Computing Centre (SRCE) on Internet Based Social Networks

Kruno Golubić, Gorana Kurtović, Nataša Dobrenić

Abstract

The University Computing Centre (SRCE) established its presence on Internet based social networks in November 2009, namely on Facebook. Soon after, SRCE become present on Twitter, Google+, YouTube, LinkedIn and foursquare. Maintaining the presence and communication on social networks was initially one of the activities carried out by the SRCE Helpdesk service. However, as a result of the growing workload and responsibilities of the Helpdesk, a new service was established only for activities related to social networks. This paper discuses the communication strategy used by SRCE on social networks. The authors examined different web based tools and services to gather information about Internet users who follow SRCE’s activities on different social network. A data analysis shows that the initial goals SRCE set in 2009 related to its communication strategy on social networks have been fulfilled. This data will also be used as a starting point for reconsideration of the existing communication strategy. With the emergence of new popular social networks there might be a need for expansion.

Discovering Value in Academic Social Networks: A Case Study in ResearchGate

Arbana Kadriu

Abstract

The research presented in this paper is about detecting collaborative networks inside the structure of a research social network. As case study we consider ResearchGate and SEE University academic staff. First we describe the methodology used to crawl and create an academic-academic network depending from their fields of interest. We then calculate and discuss four social network analysis centrality measures (closeness, betweenness, degree, and PageRank) for entities in this network. In addition to these metrics, we have also investigated grouping of individuals, based on automatic clustering depending from their reciprocal relationships.

Evaluation of the Potential Use of m-learning in Higher Education

Ruben Picek, Matija Grčić

Abstract

Rapid development of mobile technology and the increasing availability of wireless mobile devices in everyday life have created new acronym known as mobile learning (m-learning) which has emerged as a potential educational environment to support learning and make significant contributions as extension of elearning. Taking into account the strengths and weaknesses of using m-learning and key factors for successful adoption of mobile learning that are analyzed through this article, the paper focuses on the evaluation of the potential use of m-learning. For this purpose, a research was conducted on the population of students who, during the whole higher education, where using e-learning as an obligatory element of education at University of Zagreb. Results of our research shows that students, as mobile users, are not yet ready to become a mobile learners.
